We are so many years apart
you and I.
You are full of so much wisdom,
but I,
the knowledge you lack.

I listen to your words of wisdom
unwillingly,
but do heed the advice.

But you are deaf to my knowledge,
I am given no credit,
no thanks.

Your words fall upon me like ice
and make me shiver.
But then you melt --
until the next storm.

Can't you see who I am?
I am old for my years,
and my shoulders sag from
the weight.

And for this, I receive
nothing.
