The fire inside is a burning flame
That is ablaze within us all.
Do you feel the heat too or
Is your heart made of stone?

It burns so passionately within me
Nothing can cool its scorching burn.
At times I want it to subside
But would it be better not to feel at all?

So many things we yearn for
To feed the ever-burning inferno.
So many things are out of reach…
But as a cruel reminder the fire still burns.

The pain is immense and at times unbearable,
The emptiness intolerable, unexplainable.
What will quench the fire?
Cover your wounds, don't let anyone see.
Pretend you are strong, even invincible and
Don't fan the flame, for surely it will only grow.
